The view from inside one of the many gymnasium size rooms that make up the Baths of Diocletian. Now mostly gone and built over, some ancient structures remain such as this one. In this building were cold baths. There were also hot baths, steam rooms, a huge indoor pool, gymnasiums, etc.
We hired a chauffeur yesterday who took us all along the Amalfi Coast. In Italy, we can afford to pretend to be rich and enjoy such extravagances. Although the road trip caught us on the only rainy day thus far, we got to see three incredible towns: Sorrento, Positano, and Amalfi. Positano was different than any place I’ve been to, with tiny roads only narrow enough for one car to pass at a time. The streets winded down the hills until it eventually hit the Mediterranean sea, where you could swim and admire the scenery around you. You won’t find places like these in the States.

soğuk, beyaz fayansları ve ağır mermer masalarıyla pek iddiasız küçük bir lokanta olan da michele’de sadece 2 çeşit pizza yapıyorlar: margherita ve marinara. bizde pek yüzüne bakılmayan margherita; kraliçeye sunulan ve onun adı konulan, asil ve asıl pizza. lezzetini tarif etmeye imkan yok, mozzarella ve domates sosu konularak yapılıyor. marinara ise margheritanın sarımsak, kekik ve zeytinyağı eklenmiş hali. fotoğrafın üstünde görünen marinara, diğeri margherita. bir menüleri yok duvarda asılı listeyi getiriyorlar, ama web siteleri var;
